Internship Overview

The Digital Archivist Intern will play a key role in preserving and sharing the history of Save Texas Streams through research and digital storytelling. This internship focuses on expanding the organization’s historical timeline on our new website and developing content for a new section, “The Faces of Save Texas Streams,” which highlights influential individuals and their contributions to Austin’s grassroots environmental movement.

This is an excellent opportunity for students or emerging professionals interested in archives, local history, environmental studies, or nonprofit communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct historical research to expand and refine the organizational timeline of Save Texas Streams for the website

• Research and interview influential individuals connected to Save Texas Streams and the grassroots environmental movement in Austin, Texas

• Gather and organize information on individuals’ stories, contributions, and impact

• Assist in developing content for the “The Faces of Save Texas Streams” website section

• Review archival materials, publications, media coverage, and internal documents

• Help ensure historical accuracy, clear storytelling, and consistent formatting for web publication

• Collaborate with staff to align content with organizational mission and values

Qualifications

• Interest in history, archives, digital storytelling, environmental advocacy, and nonprofit work

• Strong research and writing skills

• Attention to detail and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources

• Familiarity with Austin history or environmental issues is a plus, but not required

• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
